I've created a draft of a Style Guide (http://guides.macrumors.com/Help:Style_Guide). Most of the guidelines there are just what I thought was best, so are not final yet. Some are based on discussions in existing threads.

In the UK, you are contracted to the retailer you bought it from. They are responsible for the product for six years. We have good laws in place to protect the consumer. I find it hard to understand why people never use their rights under laws such as the Sales of Goods Act.
A warranty is an insurance policy. Apple Care in the UK is not a policy from Apple, but a third party insurance company that they are contracted with. Can't remember the name of the company.
Apple are pretty good at repairing out of guarantee/Apple Care products, even when these times have lapsed. Had a power supply and logic board in my 4 year old iMac replaced for free. Sales of Goods Act is your best friend. :)

The SOGA can offer protection for up to 6 years, but not automatically. The goods should be of "satisfactory quality" and this does not mean everything should last 6 years. The question the judge asks is- how long would the 'reasonable man' expect this item to last? For an iPad easily 2 years (Apple offer Applecare that long) maybe 3 if you are lucky. I don't think an iPad should be expected to last 6 years though.
Remember almost everything you buy is subject to SOGA, and I can't ask my local stationers to replace my black biro after 5 years if it stops working!

Coming here and crying that your device is better you just prove to be absolute idiots. And I'm not talking as from insulting point of view. I'm just stating the obvious which points to the fact that you were born without most braincells needed for basic functions such as common sense. I really want to see the look on your face the day you will realise that.

I don't understand why people care who have no horse in this race. We don't get any of their profits, so whether somebody sells millions of iphones or 350 k Androids a day, all the same to me.
All I want is a product that works, integrated with the rest of the things I do and Apple does that well.
If that ever changes I am not too proud to say it's time to switch.

So whats your opinion, personally i think it was to focused on the iphone...
im in the uk so it doesnt come out here for ages...GREAT. and no new software, not even an update, that blows. Iphone looks great tho. Also the Apple TV seems altoghether useless to me? why does it need a 40gb hard drive and processor if it connects wirelessly to computers? surely streaming would have been more clever? and tey didnt even updated the screens to work properly with it! And itunes store UK still has no movies!!! GRRR. Pointless fo anyone in the uk in my opinion, whats the point of it? big whoop i can watch my music thru my crappy tv speakers ?? :confused: :mad:

I saw that article about the M5 concept this morning. The new 5er looks much better than the one just replaced, but I'm still very partial to the E39 5 series. I had a 2003 530i and to this day regret getting rid of it.

Hello chaps this is what i have brought to the Folding team .. i hope it helps.
Macbook Pro late 2009 (2.8ghz core 2 duo) Running the SMP Client
Win 7 x86 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.12Ghz running the SMO Client
GPU 2 client for a Radeon 2600 XT
also currently building a 3.06ghz Pentium D machine with 64bit Ubuntu 10.10
I have applied for and recived my passkey and I am using the macrumours team code the name i am using for folding is fiddlesticks_13
Hope this helps :)
P.S if anyone more technical minded than my self wnats to review any of the config files they are welcome and also is there a GPU version for Mac or CUDA Mac version I would like help with setting it up

I think Apple should sell the iPhone unlock, if they really plan on selling an iPhone. Try to innovate the cell phone market, if you will. Every gadget wearer knows about unlocking phones or buys unlocked phones and hops around services. It's a niche thing, but if Apple was to make some in-roads with this, I think Apple can dodge all the phone crippling, while still selling this phone directly to the masses. The partnerships with services can come later.

First Christmas present for this year; got it yesterday. It has Tiger which means it isnt compatible with ANYTHING but I should be able to get Leopard soon.
BTW; Does anyone know of any Twitter clients that are compatible with PowerPC 10.4-based Macs? Thankss. :)

With two 580's is there any way to get SLI mode working? I know certain GPU applications will see both cards without SLI mode(Cuda reads device ID), but I was curious to know if a 2010 MacPro can do SLI with Nvidia drivers, or if the drivers have to be hacked.

Has anyone any experience of running Xara on Virtual PC ? If so, does it install and run ok, or is it like shovelling treacle?It runs. That's about all that can be said for it.
If you're just doing really basic stuff, it isn't too bad. But once you get in to motion or lighting effects, it bogs down.
I'd imagine it would depend a bit on your system... though, I can't say I've noticed a massive difference in VPC between my Powerbook 1.0 and my PowerMac DP 1.8.
