While many of our cherished TV characters can't seem to keep themselves out of trouble onscreen — duh, that's why we watch — we were surprised to find that many of the actors and personalities have some off-screen criminal records to their names. It turns out the whole thing was a promotional photo-shoot for the show. Another good form of promotion? Getting arrested. Nina sure does have that tongue-in-cheek look here... literally.
Kayla Ewell Flashes Her Pearly Whites (inner left)
Meanwhile, TVDs' Kayla Ewell's beaming picture looks more like an ad for Colgate than a mug shot. Of course, this photo was taken before her character Vicki Donovan was killed off in Season 1, when Kayla was blissfully oblivious to her doomed fate.

Is it just us or were these TVD convicts not very concerned about getting cuffed? Candice Accola(Caroline Forbes) gives the jail her best smile and pose, looking like she's on the cover ofCosmo. When the news story broke out at the height of his success on the show (he placed third after Crystal Bowersoxand Lee DeWyze), James owned up to the incident, admitting he was "young and stupid."

Meanwhile, way back in Season 2 of American Idol, Trenyce won the hearts of voters with her incredible voice, giving her a fifth-place finish. Before becoming an Idol favorite, though, Trenyce pulled a Winona Ryder. Yep, she was booked for shoplifting in 1999.

The tenth-place finisher from Season 7 was busted for attempting to use "fraudulent names" while making a purchase at Neiman Marcus. In case you're not up on your laws, identity theft is considered a felony. Note to Chikezie: it's probably not a good idea to pretend you're someone else when you've starred in the most-watched show in America. Just sayin'.

It's been recently revealed that past-and-current Bachelor, Brad Womack, has a naughty rap sheet. It seems the notorious two-time reality star was cuffed for forging a driver's license back in 1993, as well as public drunken-ness and writing bad checks. Tsk, tsk, tsk... what will his 14 girlfriends think! On the upside for his possible future wives, Brad used to go by the surname Pickelsimer. (Have you seen his yearbook photos yet?) Um, "not it!" to take that last name.

Impressive! Her first crime was beating up her bachelor, Byron Velvick (is that really a crime?), followed up with public intoxication and, most recently, a DUI. Clearly, Mary has the mug shot nailed — she doesn't look half-bad in this picture!

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, NeNe Leakes, had to dish out some tough love this past season when her son Bryce Bryant was arrested for carrying a controlled substance and a weapon. What's worse, this mug shot was Bryce's second... that month! A few weeks earlier he was cuffed when he went to visit his pal in prison and security found weed in his pocket after patting him down. Okay, that's just stupid. The Housewives offspring claimed he didn't realize the marijuana was in his pocket, to which NeNe replied, "I'mma have to believe that, cause I know you ain't that big of a fool."

Add Brooke Ashley Brinson, recently outed alcoholic Kim Richards' daughter, to the list ofThe Real Housewives of Beverly Hills relatives with a record. Brooke followed her famous cousin Paris Hilton's footsteps and was arrested for a DUI back in 2006. Oh yeah, she was only 20 years old at the time. Double whammy!

His 2009 arrest is coming back to haunt him — because his case is still undecided, it may prevent him from getting a visa for Jersey Shore's Season 4 in Italy. Ruh-roh.
