Should be as popular as a TV channel with non stop commercials.

The DMCA would have nothing to do with this. This doesn't remove any copy prevention, it adds it. I just can't see what anyone would want to do with this technology.
Napster/Amazon would want this technology so they could sell their music/movies to anyone with an iPod.
It's not like Napster necessarily choose WMA DRM. They couldn't license Fairplay from Apple.
arn
Napster (and Vongo, never heard of them) couldn't do that. Fairplay doesn't have any time limit. If you buy a song from the iTunes Music Store, it will work forever (or as long as Apple Computer exists). If you have a Napster subscription, and Napster made it possible that you download a song and add the Fairplay DRM to it, then iTunes would play it today and forever.
you may be right about that. subscription services might not be useable at the moment.

Transition.
The industry is undergoing a massive paradigm-shift, thanks to Apple.
I thought they "redefined" computing? How can it be definite if it is still in a "transition" phase?

Because you then sign a contract that says how you agree to use it. This is outside of that agreement. If you want to sign an agreement to use the data in a different way, I'm sure the carrier will accommodate you. But get your wallet open.
Where I live, and with the operator I use, this isn't out of the contract though. I don't know which contract you have.

Well back in December 2008 people were telling me that AT&T and Verizon both dropped calls and had problems and whatnot so it's really all the same.
Since then my AT&T service has gotten 4 times worse.
Are you telling me that Verizon got 4 times worse over the last year too?? This is the first I've heard of that.
FWIW, ATT service has gotten 4 times better for me (ok, maybe not 4 times, but at least 2 times. new 3G tower right by my house :D). If ATT sucks so bad for you, go to VZW.

Apple appears to have pulled the publicly accessible Mac OS 10.4.8 Source Code (Darwin, the open-source foundation of OS X, and XNU, Darwin's open-source kernel), leaving only developers with ADC log-ins with access to the code (public link (http://www.opensource.apple.com/darwinsource/), ADC link (http://www.opensource.apple.com/darwinsource/tarballs/apsl/))
10.4.8 sources have never been available via the Darwin Releases (http://www.opensource.apple.com/darwinsource/) page (just never linked to the web-page). They have been available via macosforge.org (http://kernel.macosforge.org/intel-build-instructions.html) (links to tarballs on Apple's site) which has been mostly offline and under-construction for the last month and they have been available via the tarball link (http://www.opensource.apple.com/darwinsource/tarballs/apsl/) (10.4.8 Intel is xnu-792.13.8 (http://www.opensource.apple.com/darwinsource/tarballs/apsl/xnu-792.13.8.tar.gz)).
Also the "ADC link" referenced for the tarballs is not an ADC account but the standard free open source account that anyone can create. The only requirement is that you read and agree to the open source license. You do not need any type of ADC account, no select or premier, no seed key, just a free Apple ID (create one if you need it) and click that you understand that the APSL exists. This is the same account that you need to gain access to any of Apple's open source items (been this way for years).
The articles premise is bogus, it is making a false statement about something that did NOT happen.
I strongly urge that this article be corrected since it is not true and will only serve as FUD material....

I heard somewhere that federal employees are not able to collectively bargain for their benefits package. If this is true, why are recent states' attempts to restrict unionized bargaining seen as being so draconian, and why isn't there an outcry to give federal employees the same "rights"?

I'm still seeing only one discount applied online.
I was not able to get an EDU discount and sale discount.
BUT, if you are a gvt worker you can get both discounts.
I priced out a new 80GB ipod w/2 Evo3 skins, and the applecare protection plan and it was $30 cheaper with the GVT discount ... but no luck with EDU

With the new codecs Sony can barely justify 50GB discs for movie distribution. How in the world can you justify 300GB discs?
HVD or something like it would be keen for an Ultra HD format or a 4k format in 10-15yrs but right now it's a solution to a problem that doesn't exist for movie playback.

how do you change the weather location .. ive looked everywhere ..
when i click on the actual weather on the lockscreen all i have is maryland and greece ?

I would just download the 99c app if you don't want to deal with modifying the file in the root folder. Then you're good to go.

You do realize that Mord is transgendered, right? Why not listen to someone who's actually been there for as change?
Because it is not material to my point.... In the slightest....
Another analogy: "I am a basketball player. A regulation basketball weighs 96 pounds. I am right, because I am a basketball player and you are not."
Silly? Yes.
Because sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting "La… La…*la…" is so much easier.
Really? I provided a source backing my point. How, exactly, is that going "la la la la"?

Clovertown doesn't ship until November so I'm thinking Apple could add a BTO option for them +$800 for Dual Quad 2.33GHz Clovertowns in December without rocking too many boats. Then the choice will be between 4 fast 3GHz cores (12GHz) or 8 slower 2.33GHz cores (18.64GHz) for the same $3,300.
FYI Each of those processors are priced precisely the same $851 - in case you thought 8 cores were going to cost more. They won't.
I'm afraid the new Intel Apple is going to be the same as the old PPC Apple.
Apple, (in the past), always blamed slow implementation of new processors and long shipping wait times on low Motorola or IBM processor yields.
Now Apple doesn't have the same excuse with Intel but I bet we don't see a Merom MBP or an Octo-MacPro until MacWorld SF or later.
Anyone taking bets!

It's sad to say, but it happens a lot.
Well, if it's that lawless down there, I would be looking to acquire a concealed carry permit.

Okay, MWSF 2007 was all about the iPhone, and anyone interested in Macs had to go somewhere else to find entertainment ...
Hmm, I'm interested in Macs, and I thought the new MacBook Air looked pretty cool. Maybe I was just seeing things weird out of my glass eye.

Today I've had some pretty interesting exchanges with other smart phone owners. I personally have an iPhone 4, I've had it for ages and love it. Pretty much everyone else I know has an Android phone of some kind. Now, people are always so damn keen to try and compete with my iPhone! I mean seriously, these people just come out of nowhere! I don't even show it off either, people just see me use it and start coming out with stuff.
For instance, one guy comes out with - "Oh so you have an iPhone 4, my HTC Desire is way better". When we ran some comparisons he was obliterated but refused to accept it lol. All I got was, "well you paid 500 for an overpaid Apple product that you need a case to use". Personally I've never had any antenna problems so anyway, moving on.
Another guy comes out with "You don't have a removable battery so if your phone crashes then you're screwed". Anyone here had their iPhone crash? If yes were you unable to get it sorted at an Apple store? This explanation didn't bode well with said Apple hater. :p
Some one else came out with "iPhone 4 is a brick". At first I thought he was joking but he soon turned serious, saying that the phone literally is shaped like a brick and has sharp edges which hurt your hand.
Another guy claimed that iPhones are awful because they don't have flash. To be honest, I don't really care for flash. The only thing I need flash for is Youtube which has its own app, and most shopping sites have their own dedicated apps anyway. Flash is a resource hog that would kill the battery. This of course was nonsense to the nexus owner.
I could go on but the shots people took just kept getting cheaper and cheaper, most reverting to "well you paid 500 for a phone, you must be crazy". I don't understand this. It seems that most people feel some kind of envy to me because I own an iPhone 4. Its pretty sad, at the end of the day its just a phone. But people actually seem to hate Apple because they can't afford their products. Most of them admitted that had the iPhone been cheaper they'd buy one, hence they can't afford it so they are bitter.
Anyone else experienced this? I get similar problems when people see my Macbook Pro lol.
Trust me if I knew, I'd tell you. I think the same thing.

This is exactly the kind of dream house I'd want! Quite big but not too big to loose control over it. Everything makes sense in it and there's nothing unnecessary. I wonder what it would look like on the inside, colors, tables, walls, floor, lights and all that.

What are they, 12? I thought that was disgraceful. But then again, I hate all practical jokes. There's no wit or elegance involved in any of them. I've never heard of one that wasn't the equivalent of telling someone their house had burned down with their family inside before slapping them on the back and saying, "Just kidding!"
"I love practical jokes" is just another way of saying "I don't have the intelligence or sophistication to appreciate genuine humour, but I know how to hurt people".
Morons.
