By now we all know Kim Kardashian is engaged to New Jersey Nets player Kris Humphries. (Yay!) But we’re still unsure about who paid for her $2 million, 20.5-carat emerald cut Lorraine Schwartz-designed engagement rock!
Okay, we’re not denying that Kardashian’s b-ball player fiance makes a hefty chunk o’ change, but $2 million for a ring is pricey for even the highest-paid athlete. Plus, when you do the math for this specific court killer, it becomes all the more unlikely he doled out the dollars himself.
Let’s take a look: According to Hollywood Life, Kris’ income for this season is $3.2 million — which becomes significantly less after taxes — so obviously $2 million is quite the investment. And even that is an understatement! Lamar Odom, sister Khloe’s husband, brings in far more moolah than Humphries, but bought Khloe a ring half the price of Kim’s at $850,000.
So, we wonder: Did Kim “Cash Cow” Kardashian buy her own ring? Let’s be real. Kim is an empire. She undeniably ushers in significantly more cash than her counterpart, and could easily pay for the bling with a few appearances and photo shoots showing it off. It’s totally plausible she could be following in the footsteps of other well-heeled women like Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson who also purchased their own rings.
The jury’s still out on this one, but really, does it really matter who bought the beauty when it’s $2 million dollars — and from the man of her dreams? We think not.
